5052 aluminum coil

Aluminum 5052 alloy coil is one of the higher strength, non-heat-treatable alloys, magnesium is its major alloying element, with small amounts of chromium, silicon, iron, copper, manganese and zinc. Magnesium gives 5052 alloy its enhanced corrosion resistance, work-ability, strength and weld-ability. When annealed, alloy 5052 is stronger than the readily available 3003 alloy, and stronger than most other 5xxx series alloys. Moreover,5052 alloy cannot be heat treated, but can be hot and cold worked.

The fatigue properties of 5052 aluminum sheet coils are very good, with a limit of 115 MPa in the H32 condition and 123 MPa in the H34 condition. Compared to other aluminum alloys, 5052 grade aluminum has moderate alloy content and strength. In a slightly alkaline environment, the 5052 alloy exhibits resistance levels. Its resistance to marine environments is better than 5005 alloy, making it a more popular choice for marine applications.
