3003 aluminum coil description

3003 aluminum alloy is an alloy in the wrought aluminum-manganese series (3000 or 3xxx series). aluminum coil 3003 is not heat treatable, it can be cold worked (but not heat treated unlike some other types of aluminum alloys) to produce a temper with higher strength but less ductility.

aluminum 3003 is the most widely used of all aluminum alloys, it has all the good properties of alloy 1100, and aluminum alloy 3003 is stronger. 3003 aluminum coil is 20% stronger than 1100 grade alloy because it is fused with manganese.

3003 aluminum properties

1. 3003 aluminum coil is not heat treatable, but can be forged between 500 and 950 degrees Fahrenheit. Aluminum can be easily hot worked when heat is used in this range. However, it is easy to cold work, which can be done using traditional methods. When annealing the alloy during or after cold working techniques, it should be done at 775 degrees Fahrenheit. This will give it enough time to warm up thoroughly before the air cools. The only way to harden this alloy is to use cold working. 3003 aluminum sheet  can also be deep drawn, spun or brazed.

2. The machinability of 3003 h14 aluminum coil is good and it is easy to machine for different applications. It can be formed using conventional hot or cold working. It can also be formed using conventional welding methods.

3. 3003 aluminum is sometimes welded to other aluminum alloys such as 6061, 5052 and 6062, which should have an AL 4043 filler rod.

The most common applications for 3003 aluminum coil are fuel tanks, sheet metal fabrication, and other projects that require a stronger metal than 1100 series aluminum (type building panels (roof and siding), insulation panels, food and chemical handling equipment). In some cases,3003 h14 aluminum  is used in cookware, refrigerator panels, gas lines, storage tanks, garage doors, architectural hardware, and awning slats.
